Dark mode
KanjiKen now supports dark mode! You can switch between light and dark mode in the settings. The app will also follow your system theme by default. Here’s what it looks like in a learn session and on the learn path:
Dark mode in a learn session (left) and on the learn path (right).
Tinted app icons
You can now customize KanjiKen’s app icon on your homescreen with tinted and dark mode icon support on both Android and iOS. Match KanjiKen to the rest of your homescreen!
Tinted (left), light (center) and dark (right) app icons on iOS. Android icons may look slightly different depending on your launcher.
Install Japanese voice
For Android users without a Japanese TTS voice installed, there’s now an “Install Japanese voice” button in settings. This makes it easy to get the voice pack you need for read-aloud functionality.
Simplified seen tab colors
The “seen” tab colors have been simplified to make progress clearer. Previously you had 4 color stages, unseen (grayed out), seen (gray), learned (color), and known (gold). However this just resulted in everything being gold, which counteracts the established color pallet the app uses elsewhere. In this update seen and learned have been merged (gray) and known is the type color instead of gold.
Bug fixes
Fixed getting a mistake on press on alternative after skill is finished
Improved scroll handling in some lists
Fixed sort in lookup not working
Fixed delete account button not working
Fixed bug clearing login/register fields before logging you in
Fixed duplicate alternative options in “write word” skill
Fixed hover hints sometimes not rendering on Android
Fixed draggables not always rendered on top of other components
